I am hopefully (& sadly) going to finish Crash Landing On You tonight after toddler goes to bed. I watched the one earlier during his nap so I could potentially finish it.

I am going to need more k drama recommendations outside of BL as I think I’ve seen all the decent BL Korean dramas.

I’ve also watched My Demon & My Sweet Mobster if that helps. I I’ve liked all of these so far.

This K-drama was so fucking adorable and had such an amazing vibe! The ending was okay but I wanted to see more of certain characters! <3 I am so glad this drama was made! It cheered me up almost every episode! Long lost friends to lovers trope is a new fave!

I'm currently watching a K-Drama called My Sweet Mobster, it's a romcom show about an ex-gangster-leader-turned-good CEO (who's a softy) and a girl who's a kids content creator on YouTube who's a literal sunshine. The actors did this photoshoot and I just had to make GhostJade in it (❁´◡`❁)

So it turns out the central question of the new k-drama My Sweet Mobster is "Can villains truly be redeemed and start a new life, or will they always be defined and remembered by their crimes?"

Already in the first episode we've seen how the consequence of a criminal past is that no matter how hard you try to leave that past behind, many people won't want to give you a second chance. And yet while the ex-mobster ML clearly finds this frustrating, he also acknowledges that this is the inevitable consequence of having done wrong, and something that he and his fellow ex-cons can only overcome by working hard and proving themselves.

(He is also, so far, the very definition of "looks [and sounds] like he could kill you, is a cinnamon roll." Which is delightful.)

I went into My Sweet Mobster expecting a silly little rom-com about an oddball romance full of comedic misunderstandings and hijinks and it is exactly that.... But it's also an exploration of the stigma of being an ex-con and the very real challenges (social, economic, educational, etc) they face upon their release from prison. It also seems to be taking exception with the oh-so-popular k-drama trope of the "righteous prosecutor" as well as the biases and assumptions that trope relies upon.

Not only that but it seems (I'm on episode 6 atm so maybe it'll flip the script on me here) to be playing with the other (even more popular) k-drama trope of "childhood friend = fated lovers" and turning it completely on its head.

Ah Korea just couldn't resist the trope but, to be fair, they did a better job than most at doing a fake out this time so I can't be too mad (most of the time they make it so obvious it's not even a question). I'm still enjoying the show but one day, Korea, one please subvert this trope, please 🙏 I promise it would be the biggest plot twist of the year and so darn meta to boot 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I’m watching the new K-drama, ‘My Sweet Mobster,’ and I found so many beautiful parallels to the Gospel of Jesus Christ ( THERE ARE SOOOOOO MANY) The way the mobster character cleared all their debts in exchange for them to live better lives reminded me so much of Jesus’s sacrifice for us. His company, Thirsty Deer, brought to mind Psalm 42:1, ‘As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.’

For a long time, I felt close to God but didn’t really understand the person of Jesus Christ. Watching this K-drama, God met me where I was. While the show’s purpose wasn’t specifically to reveal these truths, God used it to speak to me, and I’m grateful. This is the first part of my thoughts, with more revelations to come in the next video. I hope this message reaches the right hearts.
